U17 girls League Division 5 – Round 1

FT: Ballymore – Eustace (5 – 12) Carbury (5 – 07)

First round of the League for the U17s was held at home.  The game was face paced from the beginning, with both sides hungry for the win.  Ballymore was on the board with a point, followed by a superb lob from the sideline from Kayleigh Winder, with our Captain Daire Graham ensuring that it got over the line with the first goal of the match.  Straight away Carbury were on the attack scoring two goals successively before each side got another point.  BME dominated the next ten minutes scoring another (2 – 06) before the first half was brought to a close with a final (1 – 01) from Carbury.  Half time score BME (3 – 07) Carbury (3 – 02).

Second half Carbury scored the first point before BME retaliated with another three over the bar.  Back down the BME side seen another two for Carbury.  BME managed another point before Carbury were back again putting immense pressure on the backline scoring their fourth goal, bringing the difference between the two teams to three points.   

However, Carbury were to concede a penalty and another goal and point for BME extended their lead by (1 – 07). The last 5 was nail biting, when Carbury returned with (1 – 02), but the backline held off a very strong Carbury team leaving the final whistle at BME (5 – 12) Carbury (5 – 07). Next match to be held in Ballymore Eustace, 25th April at 7:00pm.

Thosaigh na cailíní faoi 17 an chéad bhabtha don sraithchomórtas an Aoine seo chaite, 21ú Aibreáin. Bhí faobhar faoin dá fhoireann ó thús an chluiche ach bhí BME an chéad fhoireann chun an liathróid a chur thar an trasnáin. Bhí cúl faighte ag BME go gairid i ndiaidh sin, ó bhuí cic iontach ó Kayleigh Winder ón dtaobhlíne agus Captaen Daire Graham ag cur crích leis an imirt. Chuir Cairbre an liathróid i gcúl na heangaí faoi dhó mar fhreagra, roimh a bhfuair an dá fhoireann cúilín an ceann. Chuir BME brú ollmhór ar na cúlaithe, ag cur (2 – 06) ar an scórchlár agus fuair Cairbre (1 – 01) eile roimh leath-ama. Scór leath-ama: BME (3 – 07) Cairbre (3 – 02).

Thosaigh BME agus Cairbre go han-mhaith sa dara leath, ag trádáil cúilín go dtí go bhfuair Cairbre a gceathrú cúl don chluiche. Laghdaigh sé seo an bhearna idir na foirne go dtí 3 chúilín ach ghéill Cairbre cic pionóis faroar agus d’fhan BME chun tosaigh go fóill. Scóráil Cairbre (1 -02) sna 10 nóiméad deireanach, ag fágáil clár na scór BME (5 – 12) Cairbre (5 – 07) nuair a shéadfar an fheadóg dheiridh.
