After a great Summer of football the Ballymore U8’s finished the season with a blitz in Ballykelly organised by the Kildare Southboard.
The Ballymore team started the competition against Kildangan. This was a really even game which ebbed and flowed between both sides. Their next opponents were Ballyteague, another even game with great displays of footballing skills from both teams. Ballymore finished their day playing the hosts, Ballykelly. While all the players on both sides put in great effort it was fantastic to see the girls from both of these teams giving as good as they got on the pitch.
A big thank you from all in Ballymore to our hosts, Ballykelly, for facilitating the blitz and well done also to the Southboard for arranging the competition, the kids had a great time.

Milltown V Ballymore
Ballymore were the visitors to Milltown for their third game in the U8’s Southboard league. The start of the game saw Milltown put pressure on the Ballymore goal but the visitors defence was closing down the opposition quickly. Ballymore were able to pass the ball through their midfield and created some great opportunities themselves throughout the first half.
The end of the half saw Milltown leading at the break, however, Ballymore came out in the second half with all guns blazing and had the advantage going into the last quarter of the game. The Milltown team pushed to the very end in what was a very exciting encounter overall.
Ballymore V Ballyteague
The Ballyteague U8’s travelled to Ballymore for the second game of the Southboard league. A large crowd gathered for this match and they got to witness a very exciting game. The beginning of the first quarter saw Ballymore go on the attack and get their reward with a couple of clinical finishes from their forward line. Ballyteague soon reorganised and were breaking into the Ballymore half with the hosts scrambling their defence to deal with the threat.
The second quarter saw a couple of good Ballymore attempts again but Ballyteague were starting to get the upper hand. The third quarter was very evenly contested and it was all to play for going into the last quarter. Both sides were chasing the win for this last quarter and the players from both sides gave it their all with some genuinely spectacular scores to end the game.
Well done to the supporters from both sides who applauded the efforts of both teams throughout the game.
St. Laurence’s V Ballymore
Ballymore travelled to St. Laurence’s for the first round of the Southboard U8’s league. The visitors got a score almost straight from the throw in and in a strong start managed to tag a couple more scores on before the end of the first quarter. The hosts came back strongly for the next two quarters though and were ahead going into the last quarter. Ballymore were able to rally and got the scores needed to get back into the game.
There was some very impressive passing and defending throughout the game from both sets of players all of who were a credit to their clubs.
