U12’s Blitz in Clane 19/02/23

The Ballymore U12’s began their season with a grading blitz in Clane. Apart from Ballymore and Clane, Naas and Suncroft were also competing in the blitz.

Ballymore were first up playing the hosts in the opening game. A great start from Ballymore saw them threatening the Clane goal early on and the breakthrough came when the visitors worked an opening and found the back of the net. The hosts then went on the attack but stout defending from Ballymore saw them keep Clane scoreless. Another goal late on sealed the result for Ballymore despite a consolation point for Clane.

Next up for Ballymore were Suncroft. Suncroft began very well and were putting Ballymore under plenty of pressure but once again the Ballymore defence was rock solid. It was still scoreless with about two thirds of the game played before Ballymore hit a purple patch scoring 2.2 before Suncroft replied with a late score leaving Ballymore the victors.

The final game was against a strong Naas side who had also already beaten both Suncroft and Clane. From the start the Naas team pushed forward with clinical handpassing putting the Ballymore team on the back foot. Our players put up a brave resistance but after another incisive move Naas eventually took the lead. Ballymore countered at every opportunity but the Naas defence were not giving up any chances. As Naas rolled on the substitutes their weary opposition conceded further scores leaving Naas unbeaten on the day.

Great credit is due to the Ballymore U12’s on their performance today. They played really well as a team and supported each other throughout.
