U12’s Clane V Ballymore 22/05/23

Ballymore travelled to Clane for their final game of the Coiste na nÓg league. It was a tight start in the first few minutes with both sets of defenders snuffing out chances early on. Ballymore managed to get the first point of the game but Clane came back with a goal. Ballymore went on to get two more points before Clane got a second goal. After trading points Clane started to put the foot down and got three points in a row before Ballymore finished the scoring in the first half with a point. Half time Clane 2.4 Ballymore 0.5.

Ballymore started better in the second half getting a point, however, Clane responded quickly and scored three unanswered points before a Ballymore goal gave the visitors a foothold. There were two more points from Clane, a point for Ballymore and a further point for Clane before Ballymore got their second goal. The visitors were only three points behind with ten minutes to go but Clane got two quick goals to leave Ballymore reeling. The home team added another two points before the final whistle sounded.

This was a tough game for Ballymore against a Clane team that would probably compete comfortably in a higher division. Nonetheless, the Ballymore players put in a great effort and will, no doubt, come back stronger. Despite the result against Clane, Ballymore have qualified for the league semi-finals at the end of June, date to be confirmed.
