Ballymore Eustace v Milltown
Ballymore Eustace U16 girls travelled to Hawkfield today to take on Milltown in the final. Ballymore were expecting a battle and that’s what they got. Within four minutes of play Ballymore had conceded a penalty resulting in Milltown getting a goal on the board. Three minutes later Ballymore retaliated with a fine goal from Katie Lipsett. A minute later she put another one over the bar. Strong defence on both sides meant it was nearly another ten minutes before the next score; Milltown getting a point bringing them level. Ballymore followed with another goal (Mayah Doyle) and two points (Katie Lipsett and Yamin Browne) putting them five points ahead. Milltown responded with two more goals before the teams were brought level with a final point from Ballymore’s Yasmin Browne at half time. Second half Ballymore came out fighting with Yasmin Browne putting two points over the bar within minutes. Milltown pulled back with another goal and two points. Aibhe Graham got Ballymore’s last score. With about fifteen minutes to go there were two points in it but Milltown started to pull away and managed to put another four points over. Ballymore had a few more attempts at goal but Milltown’s defence was tight knit. The girls gave it their all but Milltown proved too strong for them in the end.
