4th April
Ballymore Eustace 6-04 Athy 2-08
A brilliant win for the U14 girls’ first match of the league, played in Athy on April 4th. At half time it was anyone’s game with Ballymore ahead by three points. Very wet and cold weather made play very difficult but this didn’t deter the Ballymore girls and a very healthy scoreline won them the match. Well done to Annabelle O’Neill for a great game on her first outing with the team. Final score Ballymore (6-04) Athy (2-08) Mayah Doyle (4-01), Eimear Mooney (0-01), Lily Clohessey (1-02), Daire Graham (1-0)
Under 14 Girls compete in Féile Competition
The U14 girls played away in Ballykelly on March 16 in the Féile Competition. First up was Ballymore V Ballykelly who they met in the U13’s final last year. At half time Ballymore were one point ahead, however, the Ballykelly girls kept the pressure on resulting in a draw of 2 – 02 at full time. Ballymore were up again, this time against Maynooth. Ballymore proved to be the stronger team with a goal lead at half time. Maynooth fought hard but the game ended with Ballymore 2-02 Maynooth 0-02.
Final game was between Ballykelly and Maynooth. As the two Bally’s drew earlier, Ballykelly needed to beat Maynooth with a greater goal difference than the Ballymore win. Final score was 5-01 to 0-02 giving Ballykelly a spot in the semi-final. Hard luck to all the Ballymore girls who played a blinder on a very wet and windy day. Thanks to Ballykelly for organising it.
