Having finished third in the Coiste na nÓg league Ballymore had earned themselves a place in the league semi final away to Clane who had finished second. These teams had drawn their league fixture so this was going to be a tight game. Ballymore got off to the perfect start with an early goal, however, Clane responded with a goal of their own and within a couple of minutes Clane had gotten their second goal. Ballymore reduced the deficit with a point but, once again, Clane went on the attack and hit the back of the net. Ballymore had been sluggish up to now but did manage to reset and scored three points on the trot before Clane responded with their first point of the game coming up to the break.

The second half started with a Ballymore point but Clane then went on to claim their fourth goal of the game. This seemed to provide Ballymore with the motivation to get going and they went on to score five points in a row to level the game. Clane weren’t giving up though and they retook the lead with another point. Ballymore responded with a point and Clane replied in kind to, once again, take the lead. As the game entered the last few minutes of the encounter Ballymore put the foot down and went on to score four unanswered points to earn a place in their third final of the season.
