Rheban GAA – U17 girls final Division 5

FT: Athy (2 – 03) v Ballymore (3 – 09)

At last final day arrived on the 19th August after bad weather cancelled the first attempt (15th July).  Athy had the wind in the first half and were straight off the mark scoring a goal within 3 minutes with a point to follow.  It took the BME girls about 10 minutes to settle and scored (1 – 02) on the trot bringing them back into the game.  Athy kept the pressure on BME’s defence with another goal attempt, which was saved.  The girls traded points up and down the pitch before wrapping up the first half Athy (1 – 03) BME (1 – 04).

Second half changed the play as BME had the wind in their favour.  The back line could breathe a bit easier as the girls turned the pressure on Athy’s defence. First score was for BME with a lovely lob into the back of the net.  Wasn’t long before Athy retaliated with their second goal. However, it was to be BME’s day as they keep the scoreboard ticking over and Athy off the board.  Final score Athy (2 – 03) BME (3 – 09).

Ar deireadh, d’imir na cailíní sa chraobh ar an 19ú Lúnasa tar éis é a bheith curtha air ceall de bharr droch-aimsir (15ú Iúil). Bhí an ghaoth le Baile Átha Í sa chéad leath agus níor chuir siad aon am amú; ag cur an liathróid i gcúl na heangaí laistigh do 3 nóiméad agus cúilín láithreach bhonn. Thug sé 10 nóiméad ar BME iad féin a shocrú agus chuir siad(1 – 02) ar an scórchlár ceann i ndiaidh a chéile. Chuir BÁÍ brú ar chúlaithe BME le seans ar an gcúl ach rinne an cúlbaire agus na lán-cúlaí sábháil agus glanadh iontach. Thrádáil an dá fhoireann cúilíní roimh dheireadh an leath. Baile Átha Í (1 – 03) BME (1 – 04).

D’athraigh an chluiche mar bhí an ghaoth le BME sa dara leath. Bhrúigh tosaithe BME suas ar BÁÍ agus bhí seans ag na cúlaithe anáil úr a thógáil. Fuair BME an chéad scór don dara leath le cúl thar cionn. Chuir BÁÍ an liathróid i gcúl na heangaí mar fhreagra go tapaigh i ndiaidh sin. Lá BME a bhí ann áfach agus bhí siad ag scóráil leo. Scór Deiridh: Baile Átha Í (2 – 03) BME (3 – 09).

Ár mbuíochas le Baile Átha Í don chluiche dhian agus Réabán as ucht an pháirc a chur ar fáil.
