Another wet July evening saw Moorefield visit Ballymore for the opening game of the Coiste na nÓg Autumn league. It was a good start for Ballymore who raced into a four point lead. The visitors got their turn though and scored three points in a row before Ballymore broke forward and scored an excellent goal. Moorefield responded with a goal of their own and followed this up with another goal to take the lead. Ballymore were rocked and found themselves under intense pressure conceding a further 1.3 before the break.

Ballymore managed to steady the ship at the beginning of the second half and started to ramp up the pressure on Moorefield. After a couple of good saves from the visiting goalie Ballymore got the opening point of the half. This spurred the hosts on and they got themselves level through two goals and a point. Another goal from Moorefield gave them the lead again and they stretched it with a further point. Ballymore were undaunted though and they levelled again with a goal and a point of their own. Ballymore had the momentum and they scored a fifth goal with an emphatic finish and topped this off with another point. With two minutes left Moorefield counterattacked and got a goal leaving them behind by one point. Then, with seconds to go, Moorefield were awarded a free in a good position and made no mistake putting the ball over the bar. That was the last score of the game with a draw probably a fair result.
