U12 Semi-Final – Ballymore versus Clane 26/05/23

Ballymore qualified for the U12 league semi finals despite losing to Clane in their final league game a few days earlier. As luck would have it, Clane’s victory over Ballymore meant that they were to be the opposition for Ballymore in the semi final.

Clane had beaten Ballymore well in the league, however, Ballymore made sure there was going to be no repeat of that result from the outset. The home team started the game at one hundred miles an hour and within the first ten minutes they were six points up. When Clane did manage to break out of their own half they were greeted with a solid wall that was the Ballymore defence. The forwards for Ballymore were relentless, keeping the scoreboard ticking over and had scored 3.10 with a minute to go before half time. Clane finally managed to create an opening before the whistle went for the break and scored a fine goal. Half time score Ballymore 3.10, Clane 1.0

The second half started with Ballymore on the attack again but Clane were more composed and managed to get forward more frequently, however, they could find no way past the Ballymore defenders who prevented them from scoring in the second half while Ballymore added a further goal and three points to end the game victorious. The teamwork from Ballymore throughout was exceptional and the support from the home crowd was outstanding. Great credit must go to Clane who, despite being well behind on the scoreboard, kept plugging away until the final whistle.
