Minor B Football Championship Round 1

FT: Leixlip 3-07 Ballymore 2-06

Leixlip got off to a perfect start scoring a goal in the first few minutes. Oliver Plunketts got two points then Leixlip scored another four points followed by their second goal to go 2-04 to 0-02 ahead. Oliver Plunketts got one more point before the first water break.

Oliver Plunketts did better in the second quarter. A great save from Colm Daly followed by three points in a row made it 2-04 to 0-06 at half time.

Leixlip got the first point of the second half then Oliver Plunketts got a goal from Sean Broderick. Leixlip responded straight away with another goal of their own followed by a point to go 3-06 to 1-06 ahead.

Oliver Plunketts were reduced to 14 men but fought back well, getting a penalty which was then scored by Adam Conneely to reduce the gap to 3.

Leixlip then went a man down themselves and Oliver Plunketts scored another point to leave just two between the sides. Oliver Plunketts were unlucky not to score from a few goal chances over the next few minutes and Leixlip got another point to put them 3 ahead going into the last few minutes.

Oliver Plunketts kept trying hard in the last few minutes and a great save by the Leixlip goalkeeper denied us an equalising goal just before the end. One more point for Oliver Plunketts just before full time.
