Ballymore hosted Monasterevin for their first game of the u12 league. The visitors went on the attack first but were stymied by the Ballymore defence who then counter-attacked quickly but couldn’t convert. Monasterevin managed to get two quick goals followed by Ballymore forcing the monasterevin keeper into a great save and putting the ball over the bar in the process. Monasterevin were the stronger team but some fine saves by Evan Haslam midway through the first half kept Ballymore in the game. Ballymore scored a free near the end of the half but Monasterevin replied with a goal and a point to leave the half time score at 3.1 to 2 points in favour of the visitors.
Monasterevin continued their momentum into the second half and added a further 2.5 before Ballymore responded with a point. Another 4 points from Monasterevin pretty much confirmed the result, however, Ballymore kept working hard and were rewarded with a goal. This seemed to increase the intensity from both sides and shortly afterwards Ballymore managed to get a second goal. In a robust climax to the game both teams managed to score another goal each to leave the score at 6.10 to 3.3 at the final whistle.
