Ballymore travelled to Maynooth for their second game in the Coiste na nÓg u12 league. The visitors got off to a blistering start with two quick goals. There then followed a period of sustained pressure from Ballymore for the next 10 minutes but some wayward shooting and great goalkeeping meant there were still two goals in the difference when Maynooth broke away and found the net themselves with a clever lob. A point from Maynooth and a goal and a point from Ballymore finished the scoring for the first half.
At the start of the second half it was Maynooth who got off to a flying start with a goal. Ballymore came back with a point but Maynooth followed up with another goal. Ballymore came under further pressure but their defence was strong and a couple of fine saves kept the Ballymore lead intact. The visitors managed to steady the ship, however, and scored three points on the trot. The home side then won a free kick close to the Ballymore goal, took it immediately and scored a goal before Ballymore had time to set themselves.
However, Ballymore went straight down the other end, scored a goal of their own and followed up with another point. Shortly afterwards the Maynooth goalie pulled off a fantastic save as the ball headed for the top corner. They then managed to get a point before Ballymore finished the scoring with the final point of the game. This was a good win for Ballymore with both sides pushing each other hard right up to the end.
Final score:
Maynooth 4.2 Ballymore 4.7
